Believe me it burned my soul. I would rather him walk then

1. What type of music do you make?
HIP-HOP! My music is molded from the chilly Brooklyn
streets that I was raised on.
2. What moment did you know that you wanted to do music?
Good question. I will never forget this actually. It all took
place about 5 years ago one night in my living room. My cousin "Piff"
was playing a couple of beats and we were just playing around freestyling.
THEN, a Biggie beat came on. It was the "Warning" beat to be
exact. All I could think of was Brooklyn and how much hip-hop mattered
to us. From that moment on I started practicing everyday to
develop my craft.
3. Who are your influences? Who Influenced you the most?
There are too many to name. But most of my influence came from
New York City, and my mentors (Abyss da dark & Piff). Other
influences include Biggie, Nas, Jay-z and my team Snipaz E.N.T!
4. What Are you currently working on?
Right now, I'm working on my debut mixtape "Page Renovation". I'm
pretty excited about the records I have so far and my aim is for
the same classic feeling that you get when you hear "Illmatic"
or "Reasonable Doubt". Those were definitely two albums that
inspired the project.
5. What aspects of the project will seperate it from other projects out?
I feel like for a long time, Hip-Hop has strayed away from some of
the things that made it great in the first place. Most of the new music
just doesn't grab me. "Page Renovation" gives you a chance to re-visit
some of classic sounds of the old days while at the same
time incorporating a new message. With this mix tape I plan
to change the way artists create mix tapes in the future.
6. Who are some producers and appearances on this project?
I only have a few appearances on "Page Renovation" because the
mixtape is mostly about me. But the features include but are not
limited to: (Abyss da dark, Chemist Productions, and the whole
Snipaz E.N.T camp).
7. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I can't even tell you right now... Hopefully doing something
positive in the Hip-Hop culture.
8. Is there anything you want people to look out for?
I want people to look out for the mixtape "Page Renovation" this
summer because it will definitely be worth listening to. I also
have a few videos on the way!
9. Where can the viewers find more of your music?
There are a few spots right now...

Apollo The Great Blog Interview

1. What type of music do you make?
I am a Hip-Hop artist. I like to say the music I make is
Classic/ Timeless.
2. What moment did you know that you wanted to do music?
I was always in love with Hip-Hop so it has been in my life
since i could remember. I started making music of my own around
13 or 14 writing my on songs.
3. Who are your influences? Who Influenced you the most?
My influences are Nas, Tupac, Biggie, Wu-Tang and just
about all "Golden Age" Hip-hop artists. But i would have to
say my biggest influence would be my environment South Jersey (Camden)
and the people around me. My closest friends are the same people that
watched me grow up. My older cousins they influenced me the most.
4. What Are you currently working on?
I just finished up my new album all original material
its entitled "H.I.M. II" (History Is Made) that will be
out very soon.. Also I'm working on a few mix tapes at the time, and
I'm writing songs for some singers on the come up.
5. What aspects of the project will separate it from other projects out?
My projects are all different from the norm and things that are out
on the mainstream! I make REAL hip hop music. Like I said I'm an
Emcee not just a "rapper". I do this for the love of the culture
and the craft. NOT just to fit in and try to sell records or make
labels happy. I make good music with deep and at times emotional
lyrical content. Everything i do is a reflection of how I'm feeling
at the time.
6. Who are some producers and appearances on this project?
On the album "H.I.M. II" i worked with Y-fame he produced most of
the album! He's my favorite producer lol. Also Fel sweetenberg,
and DJ White Mike. Featured on the album is my bro Y-fame and my
big Cuzzo and legend in his own right Verb Spielberg.
7. Where do you see yourself in five years?
If God see's fit, I see myself causing a major change in the
rap game. Being one of the most influential hip hop artists
of the new millennium.
8. Is there anything you want people to look out for?
To the people. If you love
good music, and REAL HIP-HOP look out for my new album "H.I.M. II"

The Black Sunn Blog Interview

1.What type of music do you make?
I make my own brand of Hip Hop
2. What moment did you know that you wanted to do music?
I've always wanted to create music, but specifically Hip Hop?
I'd have to say that was 4th grade, that was when I wrote my first
rhyme & it's just grown from there.
3. Who are your influences? Who Influenced you the most?
GZA (from Wu Tang), Mos Def, Nas are the most influential to me on
a personal level, as far as artists go.
4. What are you currently working on?
I am currently working
on an album with another Bmore emcee, 810. It's called United
Division and it'll probably drop sometime later this year. N
o dates yet, just going with the flow of creation.
5. What aspects of the project will separate it from other projects
out?
Well it's genuine music, that alone separates it from a lot out
now lol but honestly I can say we're taking this project where Hip Hop
hasn't been before on a serious level and that is Baltimore. The sounds
lyrics, culture...the world will know what 2 young emcees from Baltimore
have to say about the place we live in and that hasn't been heard yet.
6. Who are some producers and appearances on this project?
No big names right now, but we have some plans in the works..Our fans
will be pleased to know that Mydus will be making the trip with us,
though.
7. Where do you see yourself in five years?
The sky is the limit, I see myself at the least touring all over
the world...living & loving life. Shit, as long as I'm happy & making
music, that's a guarantee.
8. Is there anything you want people to look out for?
I just dropped a new mixtape, Sol Parables,
with the major hip hop site DJBOOTH.NET on February 25th so check that out..
it's a short little teaser that I wanted the fans to have to see my growth.
Also, most importantly, check out the full length original album, GodSound,
which dropped back on October 27th, 2009. Do not sleep on that.
9. Where can the viewers find more of your music?
Strictly at http://theblacksunn.com it's the only site you need so bookmark
that shit, write it down, implant it in your brain, SOMETHING it
doesn't matter just remember that address! lol
Poe Picasso Exhibit B Review

What can you expect from an mix tape from a rapper from Brooklyn named
Poe Picasso? An album that is personal that provides vivid imagery through
vivid metaphors. Even down to the production the album is just chilling
on some tracks such As Prophecy, Manifest Destiny, and Diane. This is best
played on a dark day with Hail and heavy rain. As soon as you begin to listen
to “Exhibit B” Manifest Destiny Poe is basically declaring that its fate that
he’s in this position to provide you the music that he is so driven to do.
Clearly he wants to be a legend as stated by these lyrics in "Manifest Destiny"
Before we start, you know I had to thank the people who copped this/
A brief introduction something like a synopsis/
Exhibit B was/what Rakim & Eric B. was/
What B.I.G. was.../what Ice Cube and T was.../Rev. Run, Run DMC was...
Cause, my pants saggin’ no regard for you niggas/
Feeling like I work too hard for you niggas/
And if I was you niggas/I would applaud and honor this nigga/
Cause I’m true to the core, I don’t follow you niggas/
When we take a deeper look into the definition of Manifest Destiny
is “to be destined, even divinely ordained or to expand“.
Well Poe’s trying to expand his music into your Ipods. When you listen
to “40 Days 40 Nights” you will understand Poe’s true attentions are
to cleanse the game of gimmicks and wack rap. Poe flourishes in his song
“Diane” where he tells you a story about his best friends girl with “tiger
print tattoos on her thighs“.Anyone that listens to the song will feel
like they know “Diane“ and has been deceived by her in some shape or form.
“Exhibit B” is an experience that you must sit down to listen to.Every time
that you listen to it you feel find something new in the lyrics are or have
a better understanding of the makings of Poe Picasso and intentions
behind the album. He even states “That he doesn’t make music for
little kids”. How do you do that?

Medinah Starr- Blog Interview

1. What type of music do you make?
This is a hard question to answer,
but simply put I make hip-hop. I also write R&B songs and I do spoken
word poetry. My music can’t be really categorized and I have
been labeled “socially conscious”, “super lyrical”, “underground”
and other things. I don’t really like labels because they create
little mini cages. Labels limit your sound, so I prefer to just
say I make “music”, “good music”, not to be confused with watered
down, poorly written, low quality hip-hop.
What moment did you know that you wanted to do music?
I was born into music. My whole
entire family is very creative and I was exposed to music and poetry
from day one. My uncle was a member of the legendary Last Poets.
My aunts and cousins all sung in church and many of them played
instruments. I knew I wanted to do music since I can remember.
I knew that I wanted to rap when I realized that I was good at
poetry and that I could do it better than I could sing. lol...
I wanted to sing at first. I wrote my first love song when I was
about nine, but yeah, I couldn’t sing.
Who are your influences? Who Influenced you the most?
Well, that’s easy. MC Lyte was
the female MC that I looked up to as a child. She was feminine,
but still hard. I wrote my first battle rap after I heard
“Lyte as a Rock”. Right now, most of the music that I hear is trash.
No lie, I remember when I could listen to the radio for hours, but now
I stick with my i-pod. Uhm... right now I can’t name an “influence”,
but I can tell you who I like. I still like Nas, despite the fact
that people say that he fell off. So in my i-pod is Nas, Lupe Fiasco,
Mos Def, Talib, Common, Tupac, Biggie, Jay-z, the old DMX, Masta Ace,
Gang Starr, and some pop/rock music like Pink and the rest is like
Alicia Keys, Maxwell, Jill Scott, Sade and Teena Marie.
What Are you currently working on?
Right now I’m just getting
back in the lab. I took a short hiatus because the rap game
pissed me off for a minute. However, I realize that I cannot
just walk away from my passion. Plus that’s not fair to my fans.
So right now I’m just writing. I took it back to the basics.
I’m actually writing on a pad with a pen and listening to the
track in my headphones! LOL - that means I’m not writing a quick 16
on my blackberry. I’m not trying to think of a catchy hook so that
the song sells and I’m not feeling any pressure to compete with
anyone else. I’m in love with music and I’m on some real basic,
organic shit right now. I’m writing from my heart and building
with the producers that I am working with. So just check, www.reverbnation.com/medinahstarr frequently for new music.
What aspects of the project will separate it from other projects out?
My latest project is my EP,
“Serious Intermission” which features Access Immortal, Shabaam
Sahdeeq and Torae. This project is different from others because
I think that it truly reflects the versatility of this artist.
I have a good mixture of beats and topics. Some songs are real
lyrical, others are more abstract and some are just hard.
It speaks for itself though. I urge people to just cop the
EP because its short and inexpensive and after you hear it,
you can dig in the crates and pull out old Medinah Starr projects
if you want. The good thing about doing this from my heart is that
real recognize real and anyone with a little insight into the human
psyche will be moved by my music because its from my heart.
When you pick up on that from an artist, you have to respect it.
Who are some producers and appearances on this project?
On this project I worked
with different producers. I worked with P the God who has
a big name in area. He contacted me and we just started w
orking together very naturally. I worked with Nick Wiz who
is best known for working with Rakim, Shabaam Sahdeeq,
Cella Dwellas and others. Uhm... DJ Ruckspin, John Doe
and Lost Sun also produced tracks. Guest appearances from
Shabaam Sahdeeq, Access Immortal and Torae.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Currently I am the CEO of
Introspect Records. We are doing well. My label hasn’t folded
or filed bankruptcy. lol... We are on our fourth official release
which is projected to do very well. In five years, I hope that my
label will have a full and diverse roster. I predict success with
my label and other investments. If you expect me to say, “Imma
be the hottest chick in the game and be a millionaire in five years”
then you might have me confused with one of these airhead female rappers.
That’s the kind of stuff they say, “Imma be rich! Imma get outta da hood”
because some shady A&R is selling them that dream. The truth is, the music
game is a funny business. One day they love you and the next day they
don’t so I would be fool to make that my only path to success. By the
end of this year I will have my Master’s degree and another project
prepared for release. God willing, I five years I will have good health,
stability and the ability to continue to spread my music across the world.
If the fans multiply I will be very grateful, but if not I will still make
music and love it the way I always have.
Is there anything you want people to look out for?
Right now, people should look out
for Introspect Records next official release which is Access
Immortal’s “Birth of a Dream” album. The album was produced by
DJ Ruckspin who produced the single “Perseverance” on my first
album “Beyond Reazon”.
Where can the viewers find more of your music?
www.reverbnation.com/medinahstarr
and www.myspace.com/medinahdeen and
www.cdbaby.com/cd/medinahstarr2 . My first official release
“Beyond Reazon” is available on Amazon, apple i-tunes,
cdbaby.com, cduniverse.com, undergroundhiphop.com
and basically everywhere online and its still selling! I’m blessed.
My latest release “Serious Intermission” is also available on amazon,
apple i-tunes and cdbaby.com. These are official Introspect Releases,
not mix tapes so any legit site will carry my music. People can listen
to my music on www.billboard.com just by putting my name in the search
