T-Soul INTERVIEW

How long have you been singing?

Pretty much all my life... actually started out with Piano, and once I discovered my voice I let that be the primary instrument. (Laughs)

When did you decide to take it serious?

I've always known that I wanted and would be doing music. It became more serious in the last few years where it’s become an everyday thing for me. From traveling around the world with my college (Virginia State University) Gospel Choir, to then traveling around the world by myself as an Artist, it’s a life I've always wanted to be able to live!

Your first album "Love and Music" is a really dope project.

If you had to pick a favorite song off the project what would it be?

That’s one of the hardest questions to answer for me, (Laughs) it’s the equivalent of picking a favorite child. Each song is on the album b/c it has a special meaning to me as the writer and even producer of most. My favorites change from day to day. Right now, I'm loving Love & Music though, b/c it serves as a perfect example of my life at this very moment. “Love & Music, that’s all I need"

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

I LOVE creative minds, and the power that can come from two or a collective body of creative minds getting together to make music. I have many musical inspirations and would like my Life to allow me to work with all of them. From dream collabs like Lauryn Hill, to making a hit w/ Kanye West. Music is a powerful tool, and as Artist it’s a great thing when we work together to use this "Tool" and better the lives of others.

I often see witty lines on your twitter such as "I want to make a movie where Robocop gets laid off due to budget cuts and has to work at a Waffle House". How do you come up with this stuff? (Laughs) 

Haha..Well in all things LIFE is my greatest inspiration... it inspires my music and my incredible sense of humor... I love to laugh, as well as make others laugh. (Laughs)

Part Time comedian? 

(Laughs) I’ll leave that to the professionals. While I was voted Class clown in school, I know some comedians and I must say their job is not an easy one. It’s easier to be funny when it’s not something you HAVE to do, if I have a mic in my hand more than likely I’m singing on it. (Laughs)

 

If you won a lottery pot of 5 million dollars tomorrow. What would be the first thing that you do? 

Call Sallie Mae (For once) and get her off my back..(Laughs) Naw I would defiantly make sure my family is taken care of. This musical journey has caused for a lot of "Love Donations" in order for my career to move as it has, and I would pay back not necessarily the debts I "Owe" but return what I feel has been given in Love. (S/o to Mom & Dad...) (Laughs)  Also, with money like that I would help to fund not only my career, but that of other great & deserving Independent  Artist that I know, maybe even start a Label. It’s a lot of 'Hidden' Talent out there!!

What's next for T-Soul? 

Next for TSoul, More of the same. I've been on a constant grind of Performing, networking, and recording more music that I see myself doing for the rest of my life. I’m grateful for that. The snowball is gradually getting larger and larger, and as more of the world finds out about/Falls in love with the music of TSoul, my Job becomes more and fuller of purpose. I’m looking forward to heading back to LA in October...as well as finishing up a Christmas Album that I’m really excited about. Also I’m back and forward between NY and VA working on my next album!   So defiantly keep an eye (And ear) out for TSoul in the near future!

Who ever said that Boston doesn't get love from NYC? (Unless the Red Sox are in town) 

Boston group Green Street held a listening party at NYC's White Rabbit for their new LP 

"Endless Summer" dropping via DJ Booth on September 28th.

The group is made up of two emcees A-Live and Soupa with producer Ren. If I had to describe their sound it would be insightful rhymes over jazzy laid back production. 

In the past two weeks Green Street has scored features on top blogs such as DJBOOTH.NET, 2DOPEBOYZ.COM. and XXL Magazine.  

The vibe, music, and the diversity of people in the spot were just perfect. Green Street is capable of making music that any person can relate to. I wish much more success for the group.
